Readout – Prime Minister Carney speaks with President of the United States Donald J. Trump
OTTAWA, ON, Oct. 11, 2026 /CNW/ — Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, spoke with the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
The Prime Minister thanked the President for his leadership toward securing an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. He expressed Canada’s strong support for this agreement and reiterated President Zelenskyy’s call for Russia to uphold it. It is imperative that all attacks on energy infrastructure and civilians cease immediately.
Canada will continue to join allies in supporting Ukraine’s defences and its citizens. And we will continue to maximise our exports of oil and diesel to the United States that yield well over a million barrels of diesel per day.
