Regional Assessment of the St. Lawrence River Area – Participant Funding Available
OTTAWA, ON, Oct. 8, 2026 /CNW/ — Funding provided by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) is now available to help Indigenous Peoples and the public participate in the conduct phase of the Regional Assessment of the St. Lawrence River Area, which is being conducted by IAAC in partnership with nine First Nations.
The primary goal of this regional assessment is to gain a deeper understanding of the state of the St. Lawrence River. The assessment will evaluate the relationships between activities and ecosystems, and set baseline and targeted conditions, which can be used to better assess the effects of activities (past, present, and future).
The conduct phase of the regional assessment began in August of 2026. During this phase, individuals can participate in engagement activities, such as information and technical sessions, and review and provide comments on the draft version of the Final Regional Assessment Report.
Applications received by November 9, 2026 will be considered.
